Stress-Rupture (Abbrev.) — ASTM E139 Method
For design temperatures above 800 °F (427 °C), stress-rupture testing is required unless noted (660D and 668 are stamped NR). Tests use the combination smooth-notch specimen; rupture location should be in the smooth section.

FAQ — ASTM A453/A453M − 12
Scope
Five grades of high-temperature bolting with expansion coefficients like austenitic stainless steels; for pressure vessel and valve flanges; special processing — not for general purpose.
Units
Inch-pound and SI; unless “M” is specified on PO, inch-pound applies. Do not mix systems.
Common Requirements
Apply A962/A962M for testing, finish, threads, marking, certs and general requirements. If conflicts arise, A453 takes precedence.
