DIPTI METAL INDUSTRIES
Dipti Metal Industries (A KMR Group Company) is the globally recognized AMS 5731 Supplier, AMS 5731 Exporter, and the foremost AMS 5731 Stockist of A286 Stainless Steel Bar, Wire, and Forging Billets in Mumbai, India. AMS 5731 dictates the rigorous aerospace requirements for Alloy A286 (UNS S66286) supplied specifically in the Solution Heat Treated condition (heated to 1800°F / 982°C and quenched). This critical condition leaves the superalloy in a softer, highly formable state (max 277 HB) prior to the fabricator's final precipitation hardening process. By purchasing AMS 5731, engineers can execute heavy CNC turning, deep-hole drilling, and complex thread rolling with drastically reduced tooling wear, before aging the part themselves to achieve the extreme creep-rupture strengths characterized by AMS 5732. We are a premier AMS 5731 Distributor supplying certified Round Bars, Hex Bars, and Forgings to the global turbine, engine, and specialized fastener sectors.

We source our AMS 5731 exclusively from Certified Tier-1 Mills utilizing Consumable Electrode Melted (CEVM) or Vacuum Induction Melted (VIM) processes, ensuring the raw material is perfectly homogenized and free of inclusions that could cause tooling failure during rapid machining operations.
AMS 5731 governs Alloy A286 (UNS S66286) long products, representing an iron-based superalloy engineered for severe environments. The defining feature of AMS 5731 is that it stops after the primary solution heat treatment at 1800°F (982°C) ± 25°F. Unlike AMS 5732, it does not undergo the secondary precipitation aging cycle before delivery. This provides the fabricator with A286 in its most ductile, workable state. The MTC will certify that the supplied AMS 5731 material is completely capable of meeting AMS 5732 mechanical and stress-rupture properties once the customer performs the final 1300°F - 1400°F aging heat treatment.
| Element | Target (%) | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Nickel (Ni) | 24.00 - 27.00 | Stabilizes austenite, prevents embrittlement at extreme temps |
| Chromium (Cr) | 13.50 - 16.00 | Provides critical oxidation and corrosion resistance |
| Titanium (Ti) | 1.90 - 2.35 | Primary element forming strengthening precipitates (gamma prime) |
| Molybdenum (Mo) | 1.00 - 1.50 | Enhances solid-solution strength and pitting resistance |
| Vanadium (V) | 0.10 - 0.50 | Refines grain structure, boosts elevated-temperature yield |
| Carbon (C) | 0.08 max | Kept low to maintain ductility and prevent carbide networks |
| Boron (B) | 0.003 - 0.010 | Crucial for improving high-temperature stress-rupture life |
Manganese and Silicon are limited to 2.0% max and 1.0% max, respectively. The iron base acts as the primary matrix (Balance). Material remains non-magnetic.
| Property | As Supplied (Sol. Treated) | Capable Of (Aged to 5732) |
|---|---|---|
| Ultimate Tensile Strength | ≥ 620 MPa (90,000 psi) | ≥ 896 MPa (130,000 psi) |
| Yield Strength (0.2%) | ≥ 241 MPa (35,000 psi) | ≥ 586 MPa (85,000 psi) |
| Elongation in 2" | ≥ 25.0 % | ≥ 15.0 % |
| Hardness Limit | ≤ 277 HBW | 248 - 341 HBW |
| Stress-Rupture (1200°F) | N/A | ≥ 23 hours @ 65 ksi |
Our AMS 5731 products are supplied Solution Treated (1800°F) only. The lower initial hardness (max 277 HBW) allows for aggressive turning and threading prior to the customer's age-hardening furnace cycle.
Alloy A286 is utilized heavily in power generation, oil/gas, and aerospace. The AMS 5731 standard specifically identifies the un-aged, highly machinable state of the material.
